Jake the Sled Dog

Jake is a collie who spends his days herding sheep across the lush, green hills of Yorkshire, England. But Jake’s world is turned upside down when his farmer moves to Anchorage, Alaska. Of course, things are a bit different in Alaska. When Jake discovers that his new school does not have a sheep-herding team, he tries out for the sled team instead. Jake learns that picking up a new sport isn’t always easy. Will Jake give up, or will he make the team?

Meet the Author
Keely Walker is an award-winning writer who lives in the beautiful state of Idaho with her husband and daughter. Originally from Texas, she has a PhD in anthropology from Texas A&M University, which has absolutely nothing to do with her writing.
While Keely writes across a variety of genres, Jake the Sled Dog is her first children’s book. Jake is inspired by her own collie, Rusty, combined with an enduring love of the outdoors. In her free time, Keely enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature, and creating new stories!

Meet the Illustrator
J. C. Perry is an award-winning illustrator from Lancashire, England (a stone’s throw from the Yorkshire Dales where Jake’s story begins). As a child, Jo would spend her days either with her head in a book, or illustrating her own hand-made books. After 20 years working as an animator and graphic designer, Jo returned to what she loved most – illustrating children’s books. She’s never owned a dog, although her kids are slowly persuading her and her husband to get one, and if they do, it’ll probably be a collie.
